Burton Unisex Good Company 2023
Dog person or not Burton’s 2023 Good Company’s design will put a smile on your face. Almost a direct nod to the famous painting "a Friend in need" by Cassius M. Coolidge, that features a familiar scene.
The Good Company has a gang of pups enjoying their very own round of cards in a near identical style. Perhaps after the years of “social distancing” a reminder of what “good company” looks like speaks to me, definitely one of my favourites.
Burton Mens Deep Thinker & Free thinker
The Deep thinker and Free thinker have continued to be the canvas for Burton’s top artist to display some of their most interesting designs and this year is no different.
Scott Lenhardt has an insane body of work, with pieces created for not only Burton, but Nike, Adidas, Mountain Dew to name a few. With a deep love for snowboarding, his style ranges from ultra realism to psychedelic street art with vibrant colours and a lot of character. With such and evolving wide style, his portfolio there’s a piece of work that will definitely speak to you on a deep level.
Playing off last season’s design, these Graphics evokes true hippie vibes with a style akin to classic long surfboards or station wagon side panelling. With repeated line work and intense colouring The Deep Thinker and Free Thinker have burton’s most lively designs this season and it definitely will make you think when you see it.
Burton Womens Talent Scout 2023
Nanibah Chacon’s design for the 2023 Burton women’s Talent Scout is simple and memorable.
Nanibah “Nani” Chacon is a Navajo, Chicana painter and muralist out of New Mexico. She has had a lengthy career, painting and creating murals for cities all over North America, that have their roots in street art and graffiti. Her style is colourful and rich with a gorgeous realism that can be rare in street art.
The Talent scout 2023 has a beautiful design that’s subtly elegant in a way only Nani Chacon could invoke. This board features the painting “What dreams are made of,” created by Nani Chacon that rewrites (or repaints) reductive concepts and ideas of Indigenous identity and Chicano lowrider culture. Underscored with silhouettes of roses throughout and featuring a stellar 1960s Chevrolet Bel Air adorned with roses it’s a picture to behold. While the symmetrical base design featuring two roses and a stylized “BRTN” is understatedly excellent. It’s memorable and elegant, one of my favourites.
Burton Womens Yeasayers 2023
The Yeasayer is a board in high demand and continues to blows expectations away, with all that hype it deserves an equally eye grabbing designs.
Nicholas Law describes his style as influenced by traditional graphic art and ethereal abstraction and it’s easy to see what he means. Reminiscent of 80’s Album art, with a hint of vapour-wave styling it’s easy to point out a Nicholas Law Original.
This board is one you need to see up close to fully experience its full beauty. With Layers of black, under pinks mixing into oranges that look different from every angle. It looks really good on a fresh bed of snow and will get you stoked to ride whenever it catches your eye.
