Meet Angi

ANGi is the latest and greatest innovation from Specialized. Providing optimal protection and piece of mind safety through a little piece of tech. Read on to find out how ANGi can help you ride safer.

What is ANGi?

ANGi is a patented, helmet-mounted sensor that features a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope. Yeah, that’s a bit of a mouthful, but more simply, ANGi has an innovative sensor that measures the forces transmitted to your helmet during an impact. It also measures the harmful rotational forces that occur during crashes when there’s noactual impact to your helmet.

Using ANGi is simple. Just pair the device with a smartphone equipped with the Specialized Ride App and enjoy the free 1-year Ride PremiumApp subscription that’s included with the purchase of any ANGi-equipped Specialized helmet or ANGi aftermarket sensor.

During your ride, the ANGi sensor will detect the kind of forces commonly associated with a crash. If these forces are detected, the sensor will connect to the Ride App on your smartphone, sound an alarm, and start a countdown.

But I'm ok how do I stop the alarm?

If you’re okay, you just cancel the countdown and keep riding. If you’re injured and unable to cancel the countdown, however, the Ride App will send a text alert to your emergency contacts telling them you may have been in a crash. In addition to notifying your contacts that you may have crashed, ANGi and the Ride App will also send your location, via GPS coordinates, to all of the contacts you’ve listed in the Ride App. ANGi also lets you share your ride plans before you head out for a ride. You can even choose to provide your contacts with a live tracking link, so they can follow your ride in real-time.

What if I lose cell service?

ANGi communicates through your wireless provider and requires a signal at all times for full functionality, you might wonder what happens if your ride takes you outside of cell service? In this scenario, ANGi is able to monitor your safety differently.

Just set your estimated ride time before you head out. All you need is an active data signal when you start your session. If you haven’t completed your ride within that time frame, ANGi will send a notification to your contacts with your last uploaded location. This will happen regardless of whether you have cell phone service or not.

Which Specialized helmets is ANGi compatible with?

Several Specialized road, mountain, and youth helmet models now come equipped with the ANGi sensor attached to their fit system.

These helmets include:

Road:

Specialized S Works Prevail II MIPS

Mountain:

Specialized Ambush Angi MIPS

Specialized Ambush Comp Angi MIPS

The Brains behind ANGi

Studies consistently show that the top two reasons people don’t ride bikes are:

    1. They don't know where to ride or how to get started.
    2. They're concerned about their personal safety.

That’s why the Specialized Ride App was created.

The app makes finding rides and getting connected to your cycling community almost effortless. It also records your ride and performance data and seamlessly syncs with other popular apps like Strava®.
Last, but not least, the Specialized Ride App is the communication platform powering ANGi’s ability to connect you to help in the event of a crash. The Specialized Ride App is available for both iPhone and Android devices, and includes a free 1-year subscription to the Ride Premium App with the purchase of any ANGi- equipped Specialized helmet or aftermarket ANGi sensor.
